Preliminary version. The editors have not finished checking this card, and grades may change.

A small molecule, not a peptide, that blocks an enzyme called NNMT. In mice, mostly from one research group, it reduced weight and fat. No study in people has been published and none is registered.

## Short answers

### Does 5-amino-1MQ work?

A small molecule, not a peptide, that blocks an enzyme called NNMT. In mice, mostly from one research group, it reduced weight and fat. No study in people has been published and none is registered. Strength: grade D, not clear. Only studies in old mice, from one research group. Their grip strength was about 40% higher than in untreated mice, and an injured leg muscle recovered more force. No study in people exists. Fat loss: grade D, not clear. Only mouse studies: four papers, all from one research group. Obese mice on a high-fat diet lost weight and fat, and in the first study food intake did not change. No study in people has been published or registered, and the mice were given injections, not capsules.

### Is 5-amino-1MQ legal?

PL: No approval. The European medicines database (EMA) lists no such medicine in Poland (9 October 2026). The Polish register was down, so we could not check it directly. EU: No approval. The European medicines database (EMA), which covers EU and national approvals, lists no such medicine (9 October 2026). US: No approval. The FDA drug register has no such medicine.

### Is 5-amino-1MQ banned in sport?

May be banned, WADA 2026. It is not on the WADA list, but WADA also bans substances that no health authority has approved, so it may be banned.

### Is 5-amino-1MQ safe?

Not known. Studied in mice, which showed no visible harm. No study in people exists, and a 2026 review lists the unknown safety profile as an open problem.
